UPDATE : 17th November 2020<\/em><\/strong> My sister told me to re-share this blog post, as she thought it might be supportive for people again, or for the first time perhaps. Rereading it, myself, I couldn't believe it's foretelling of the year.

For those that did ,and are managing to, keep your mental health high, good on you all for taking the smoother road with self-discipline, regarding your emotional wellbeing. I saw plenty of these types of ideas being practiced throughout the social media sphere during Government Lockdowns.. So, on to our New Year 2020 blog:-<\/strong><\/h2>

It being the northern hemisphere from where I'm writing and it being mid winter and with it now being this side of Christmas, it comes to mind (barring the New Year's Eve bash & fireworks display, how can we warm up the cockles of our hearts when in all probability, the worst of the winter is still yet to come. (Don't let the fact Official Winter Solstice has passed, fool you. The further North you are, the later it takes for the days to get longer.)<\/em><\/p>

<\/p>

Here are our thoughts on this topic:-<\/strong><\/h3>

Rather than focusing on what's missing, like long sunny days (unless you've booked your tropical trip), combing the beach for shells and pebbles, lunch in the garden, freshly mowed lawn... sorry... I said, rather than missing the spring and summer, it's best to add to our current days, some cozy warmth & light.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

We can do this with candles, tea-lights, real flame fires, crystal lamps and twinkly lights around the home and turning off or dimming the main lights.<\/p>

<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

Then there's hot cuppas - coffee, hot chocolate, even plain mugs of hot Oatly's Organic Creamy Oat, (no paid for promo going on) or other plant milks, and numerous herbal and petal tissanes.<\/p>

<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

And don't forget, baking gingerbread and icing cookies aren't just for Christmas - they are for life.<\/p>

<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

A trick that I've learnt in recent years is to turn the heating down a tad and snuggling up with a soft throw, or fleece and fluffy socks makes it seem more cozy than having the gas fired boiler blasting away and wandering around in a tee-shirt, of course if that\u2019s your thing that\u2019s your rightful choice.<\/p>

I wouldn't have believed me a few years ago but I now prefer a tad of having-to-keep-warm with the season. Apparently it's good for the DNA repair too, like fasting( new to me in the last few years.)<\/p>

Working with the energy of the season, like slowing down, creating stillness and inner focus is easier on the natural body systems. Just remember to keep your nose and toes warm, it prevents getting viruses - it's an immune system enzyme thing. - <\/em>mustard powder baths can help too.<\/p>

Coming from the land of the dark cold winter, the Danish and Norwegian's have this cozy-living off to a fine art. Google hygge or search on Pinterest and you will find a world of ideas to keep life, heart-warmly, snug during these winter months.<\/p>

Another idea is to take up a new hobby. Learn to play an instrument. Try some sketching, photography, yarn craft, etc. The purpose though, is to really enjoy the doing, just for itself, in the NOW, not to effort, work or look to use the activity in the future. Let that unfold or not.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

If you aren't a gardener yet, may be scanning your local plant-selling websites for some seeds to grow once your local last frost has passed, may keep you lifted and focused, positively, while you learn about and plan for your new acquisitions. (Some companies may have some spring bulbs left and on sale but it might be a little too late, this year.)<\/em><\/p>

I am currently, when not blogging and Instagram ing for Our Eco businesses , in the middle of my Vision Board\/Values Guidance\/Goal Setting for 2020. Basically scripting my year ahead in alignment with my core values,<\/a> and how I want my life to feel.

The natural contracted energy of life in the winter is great for preparing the soil for the new year. Storing some energy and strengthening focus.<\/p>

For those of you wanting more energetic ways of warming your heart up there's always ice-skating\/rollerskating, snow angels to be made and snowball fights to be had, or river and park walks with a friend, the ducks and birds would probably appreciate a winter feed. Find appropriate bird friendly feed before you go.<\/p>

<\/p>

Although, the above, are simple ideas, we hope that you will continue to think about how, the products involved in any of these activities , effect Eco systems and future generations.<\/p>

Are your new purchases multi-use, recyclable, or organic and *compostable? Or made from recycled materials. Has the manufacturer considered toxicity and where their products will end up after use?<\/p>

We do this when we purchase for ourselves and when looking for products we want to let people know about, to sell.<\/em><\/p>

<\/p>

*<\/em><\/strong>Compostable means that a product is capable of disintegrating into natural elements in a garden compost environment, leaving no toxicity in the soil.<\/em><\/p>

<\/p>

Wishing you lots of winter-warmer snuggles and like the spring bulbs that are starting to find their way to the light, that you take your time and fill each moment with being truly and simply you.<\/p>
